But are you sure that there is another birth?
If by chance there is none, is it not wasteful to throw away this one chance to grow up in life just because of this 'give and take' problem?
KaaLidaasa, the sanskrit poet, put it aptly thus:
Thyajatha maanam alam batha vigrahaih na punar ethi gatham chathuram vayah/
ParabhRthaabhir itheeva nivedithe smaramathe ramathe sma vadhoojanah//
At the onset of spring the cuckoos told the young girls to shed their ego and not to indulge in petty quarrels because youth, once gone, never returns.
The girls, thus admonished, indulged in amorous activities.
The decision is of course ours.

You sound truly like a concerned grandma for countless young unmarried and married Indian women who may still find some of your suggestions not quite acceptable.
Nothing much has changed since 1974 in Indian society though.
Which is why some of its more enterprising members might opt to look outside for matrimonial partnership!
If I were a young man today I will definitely opt out.
Time that we (particularly the men changed the mindset in order to cope.

Kalaa,
I am lucky but I still don't know if it was the scientist in me or the intervention of my wife which did the trick!
Bijayaa,
Yes, it is indeed a heartening and, for me,near-miraculous happening in my life.
GR
Kalaa,
I hope the effort you put in was matched by the interest in the information you got!
And Bijaya,
the horse was set free initially to roam over different countries which were then considered to have been conquered by the performer of the sacrifice. Later it is subjected to this fate after its return. And we call ourselves compassionate!
About the earlier part there is more information in the Uththara KaaNDa of VaalmeekiraamaayaNa, in connection with the aSvamedhha performed by Raama himself.
I will revert to it at a later date.

I applaud you for being courageous enough to criticize Kamal Hassan, KaruNaanidhi and others like them who , in spite of their so many abilities and talents which have all been misdirected, represent all that is bad in our present Indian society.
But I do wish that you eschew contempt towards towards other societies and religions. All of them, including Hindus, have had their share of bad and good deeds in the past.So let us look to the future and use history only to learn from the past.

An aggressor deserves to be killed,in my view.So also any oppressive ruler or his representative.
Vaanchi laid down his life at a tender young age for his motherland.I don't think that there are many among us today who would even be prepared to render military service for a year.
I hold them all as patriots, to be honoured by posterity and remembered with gratituide.
I hope that misguided and misleading statements and thoughts do not render us blind to the sacrifices made by our ancestors the fruits of which we enjoy today.

So both of us have been saying the same thing?
That is a big relief.
I shall read it all over again and demystify myself.
